The figure in the engraving was an adventurer claiming glorification, a traveller to various royal and princely courts in Europe, eager to thrive. Born at Târgoviște, probably in an old boyar family in Wallachia, he got the court of the King of France, Ludovic XIV. Historian Matei Cazacu dedicated an ample study to him, speaking of the figure’s adventurous life ("Dilema Veche", No 673, 12-18 January 2017). Engraving on copper.
