Alexandru Papiu Ilarian (1827-1877) was a jurist, historian, a leading figure of the 1848 Revolution in Transylvania and Wallachia. Between 1863 and 1864, he was part of the government led by Mihail Kogălniceanu, being the first Romanian Transylvanian member of a government in Bucharest. He worked on the drafting of the law on the secularization of the wealth of the monasteries of Alexandru Ioan Cuza. The item is in a very good state of preservation. At the bottom of the photograph is the name of the revolutionary written in blue ink.
