Queen Marie published this book in Great Britain as propaganda material in favour of Romania, which had joined France and Great Britain in the First World War. The book opens with a splendid heliogravure depicting the Queen in the Red Cross uniform. The money obtained from the sale of this work was donated to the British Red Cross that worked in Romania during the war.
