Archangel Michael represented below the waist, with his right hand holding the sword high, as usual, and in his left hand holding the seal of Jesus. He is dressed in a Roman soldier's costume, his features are rendered according to the tradition of Brâncovenesc icons, but made much more graphically, the flat face model is specific to Transylvanian icons and the red-ochre background painted with white stars defines the painting of the icon as made in Banat, around mid-18th century.
