The Asterism Sapphire is a rare and captivating variety of sapphire that displays a star-like phenomenon on its surface when viewed under a direct light source. This optical effect, known as asterism, occurs due to the presence of rutile inclusions (a titanium dioxide mineral) that resemble a needle inside the sapphire. The rutile inclusions are arranged in such a way that, when the light hits the surface, it reflects back in the form of a star, often with four, six or even twelve rays, depending on the orientation and density of the inclusions.
