The work was exhibited as part of the series From the New Bridge, at the First Annual Exhibition of Croatian Artists, King Peter I the Great Liberator House of Fine Arts, Zagreb, 1940., the work is listed in the catalog on page 79, cat. No. 63-67.
Sergije Glumac made a significant contribution to the Croatian art scene of the 20th century with his work in graphics, graphic design, and scenography, establishing himself as one of the key figures of that period. The work "From the New Bridge" is part of a series of the same name in which Glumac again expresses his propensity for motifs of physical labor, construction structures and machines. In large pastels, he depicts the construction site of the bridge in different stages of construction. With a dynamic composition, monumental figures and impressive structures, he creates an almost cinematic atmosphere, the strength of which is further emphasized by the dominant red color of the bridge, harmoniously complemented with the gentle blue and white tones of the sky in the background. Works from this series were exhibited in 1940 at the First Annual Exhibition of Croatian Artists, where they sparked great public interest.
