Vojin Bakić (Bjelovar, 1915. - Zagreb, 1992.) sredinom 1950-ih godina stvara radove u tematskim ciklusima u kojima istražuje organičku apstrakciju. Među njima je i ciklus s motivom bika koji započinje 1950. velikom skulpturom životinje sažetih pojedinosti, na samom rubu figuracije. Bakić narednih godina izrađuje skulpturu bika različitih dimenzija i od različitih materijala, a njegove monumentalne verzije izlaže na Venecijanskom bijenalu i Svjetskoj izložbi u Bruxellesu.
