Cu o carieră de peste 50 de ani, Spiridon Georgescu este astăzi recunoscut drept unul dintre sculptorii pasionați de subiecte militare și naționale, opera sa monumentală stând astăzi exemplu. Cele trei opere de for public din București certifică pasiunea acestuia: Monumentul Eroilor Regimentului 21 Infanterie, 1923 (din fața Muzeului Militar), Monumentul Infanteristului, 1930 (podul Cotroceni) și Monumentul Eroilor din Arma Geniului, 1929 (Piața Leu). A fost elev al lui Ștefan Ionescu-Valbudea la Școala de Arte și Meserii București.
