On the gold background of the icon, the Mother of God with the Child is represented, in the imperial type, wearing a golden crown. She holds the child standing on her left arm and with her right hand she holds the scepter in the form of a stem with golden flowers. Jesus is shown as a child, as a king and high priest, with royal garments and a crown on his head. The faces are painted according to tradition, with models made with relatively abrupt transitions, from the shadow painted with greenish brown to the light parts made with pink-ocher. The icon is framed by a richly sculpted and gilded frame that characterizes the Greek icons from the 16th century, with more weight in the 17th century. The frame at the bottom is in the form of a pedestal, on which two columns rest, supporting a semicircular arch. Above it, the richly sculpted ornament with golden plant motifs is crowned with the motif of the double-headed eagle, frequently used by the Cantacuzin family and then taken over by Constantin Brâncoveanu.
