Primul proiect de decorare al Palatului C.E.C. era ob?inut de Simonidy în 1899, pentru decorarea Salii de Consiliu. Prima opera realizata, "Fortuna distribuind bunurile sale românilor dupa ob?inerea Independen?ei" avea sa fie premiata la Expozi?ia Universala de la Paris din 1900, ob?inând Medalia de Argint. În anul 1909 artistul expunea la Salonul Societa?ii Na?ionale a Artelor Frumoase de la Paris (SNBA) proiectul lucrarii Munca, care ajungea la Bucure?ti trei ani mai târziu.
