Frano Kršinić (Lumbarda, 1897 – Zagreb, 1982) was a Croatian sculptor who came into contact with stone, a material he gladly worked with, as a boy through his father's stonemasonry. He began honing his talent at a school in Korčula where he learned modeling and carving, then in the Czech Republic, at a school in Hořice and finally at the Academy in Prague. He taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, was one of the founders of the Earth group and a member of HAZU. He found his authentic expression without sudden twists and strives for simplicity. He created many monuments, busts, and portraits in traditional sculptural materials - stone, bronze, and marble. His main inspiration was a woman, and he is most famous for his tender, elegant, almost classical female figures with intimate themes. He was also extremely prolific in bronze, which is evidenced by his portrait, The Head. He does not characterize the face with expressive emphasis. The expression radiates calmness, simplicity, and harmony. The surface is rough, but masterfully processed.
