Ecaterina Teodoroiu is a Romanian film from 1978, directed by Dinu Cocea based on a screenplay by Mihai Opriș and Vasile Chiriță. The main roles were played by actors Stela Furcovici, Ion Lupu, Mihai Mereuță, Ion Caramitru, Amza Pellea, and Ilarion Ciobanu. The film depicts the participation of young heroine Ecaterina Teodoroiu (1894-1917) as a volunteer in the battles of World War I. The screenplay was written by Mihai Opriș and Vasile Chiriță. The film entered production on October 2, 1977. Filming began on February 28, 1978, and took place in Târgu Jiu, Pucioasa, Padina, Târgoviște, and Bucharest, being completed in June of the same year. The film was produced at the Bucharest Cinematographic Production Center studios, with support from the Ministry of National Defense and local party and state authorities from Gorj County.
