Description
The Alsatian Lorenz Fries (c. 1490-1531) distinguished himself as an encyclopedic spirit, passionate about the study of medicine, astronomy, geography, and cosmography. After a long period dedicated to studies in Italy and France, he settled in Strasbourg where he began to work on the editing of Ptolemy's Geography.
