The piece represents a page from Sebastian Münster's "Cosmographia" and illustrates the map of Transylvania published in the chapter "Das vierte Buch/Transilvania Siebenbürgen". Besides Transylvania, Podolia, Moldova, parts of Russia appear to the north, Walachia to the east, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Thrace to the south, and Hungary, Bosnia, Dalmatia, and Croatia to the west. On the verso is the description of the map in German with Gothic characters.
