Photographer Aurel Bauh (1900-1964) was one of the leading figures of the avant-garde movement in Romania, enjoying a strong friendship with the most important writers and artists of this phenomena. He opened a photographic workshop in Bucharest in the early 1920s, at 7 Popa Rusu Street. Settled in France in the late '50s, he became an important photographic artist. Similarly, Ida Guggenberger is closely tied to the phenomenon of photography in Romania. In 1912, she took over the management of her husband Hans Guggenberger's photographic workshop in Mediaș after his death. During her photography studies in Germany in 1914, she met photographer Jolan Mairovits. The two Partners, who returned to Transylvania shortly before the closure of the borders due to the outbreak of war, moved their Guggenberger-Mairovits photography workshop to Sibiu after the war, from where their fame and the photography enterprise took off. In 1932, the two photographers co-owners of the photography workshop settled in Bucharest, on Calea Victoriei, where they continued their activity until the establishment of the communist regime. The piece is signed by Bauh in the bottom right corner and includes the stamp of his workshop on the back.
