Alexandru Mohi's passion for painting, drawing, and sculpture can be identified from his childhood. His encounter with the cultural world of Baia Mare city happened during the summers of 1924 and 1925, where he was privileged to study the work of modern painters like Alexandru Ziffer, David Jandi, or Thorma Janos. Within landscapes, he will accurately set his stylistic boundaries and be inspired by the places he wanders to describe scenes and views from Dej, Mediaș, Cluj, or Bistrița. The piece belongs to the years 1925-1935, a period during which the artist often completed rural landscapes and compositions inspired by village life. This period aligns with his closeness to the tradition of Transylvanian painting, where the landscape and village life are central themes. His deeply humanist creation, framed by robust constructions, a vibrant and expressive chromatic force, and yet by the rigor of his line, will be noted in works such as "On the outskirts of Cluj", "Street in Dej", "Mediaș" or "Medieval aspect in Bistrița" that can be found in several museums in the country or in Baia Mare. The image of the field dominated by haystacks becomes not only a representation of an agricultural moment, but also an expression of a harmony between man and nature, the natural rhythm of work, and the continuity of rural life. The composition evokes the atmosphere of the field after the hay collection, a moment that suggests both the collective effort from the peasants and villagers and the deep connection between man and nature. The haystacks become central elements of the composition, organizing the space and suggesting the idea of order and continuity. The work can also be associated with the social context of the post-war period, when art often addressed themes related to agriculture, collectivization, and village life. However, Alexandru Mohi treats the scene primarily in a poetic and pictorial manner, focusing on the atmosphere and chromatic harmony, where some examples are: "Rest at noon", "Static nature with a lemon", or "The Stonecutters". The color palette is warm, dominated by light shades of yellow, ochre, and green, which capture the light of the field and the richness of nature. His style combines realism with decorative and expressive accents, with the emphasis on the atmosphere and the relationship between color and light. (S.S)
