The Romanian Weapons and Shooting Sports Society was founded in 1862 in Bucharest, as a sporting society aimed at men who were passionate about shooting and fencing. It became very popular, and it included both personalities from the high society, as well as members from the small and middle bourgeoisie. The cup was offered as a prize in one of the regular sporting competitions organised by the society. It consists of two elements, the double-flared base and the main body, both of them made of silver. The latter is decorated with the organisation's symbol.
