Cezar Petrescu (1892-1961) was a novelist, short story writer, translator and one of the most important gazetteers in the first half of the 20th century. He was an editor for "Adevărul", "Dimineața", "Bucovina", "Țara nouă", "Voința", founder and manager, together with Pamfil Șeicaru, of the social-political and cultural magazine "Hiena" (1919-1924). With Lucian Blaga, Adrian Maniu and Gib Mihăescu he founded the magazine "Gândirea" (1921). He also founded the newspapers "Cuvântul" (1924) and "Curentul" (1928), he was the editor-in-chief of the unofficial newspaper "România" (1938) and of the magazine "România literară" (1938). He was a member of the Romanian Academy starting with 1955.
