Obverse: Bust of Emperor Trajan, towards the right; Legend: IMP CAES NERVAE TRAIANO AVG GER DAC PM TRP COS V PP. Reverse: Fortuna standing to the left, with the horn of abundance and rudder; Legend: SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI SC. Striking area: Roman Empire, predominantly Rome. Circulation area: Roman Empire, from Spain to India and from Germany to Egypt. Possible place of discovery: Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Western Asia, North Africa. State of preservation: relatively good. After the conquest of Dacia in 106, Trajan manages to bring the empire to its largest size. The pride of conquering Dacia was first expressed by the six months of celebration in Rome. A dupondius coin represented 1/2 of a sestertius and 1/8 of a denarius.
