Theodor Pallady's attitude towards art is revealed to us in the interview he gave to Nicolae Tonitza - "Art [...] is a necessity for the mind at every moment. The need to confess sincerely and unforgivingly. My painting is the diary of my daily existence." The study trip to Paris, which will later turn into an extended stay on the art-soaked lands of France, will prove to be prolific in both the artistic development of Theodor Pallady and his personal evolution. He will penetrate the literary circle of the Countess de Noailles, where it is said that he even met Marcel Proust. With passions deeply rooted in literature and philosophy, he will deepen the artistic path and give it new meanings. One of his first exhibitions at the Romanian Athenaeum in 1904 will include a selection of landscapes from Moldova, but also themes of biblical origins. The vineyard bought on the Bucium hill from Iasi, where he will return for 10 years during the summer, will undoubtedly be transformed into a pictorial motif. It will result in numerous works dedicated to the motif, revealing the painter at a point in his career where his style was not yet finalized. The cycle of works inspired by the Moldova area, by the trees and villages that are lost in the distance will serve as a preparatory study for his mature work. It will be, therefore, an ascending slope sprinkled with panoramas of the native space. The landscapes will become a diary of his expeditions in the homelands of the great European artists, but also in the native lands.
