Following the example of his time, after his studies in Bucharest, Iosif Iser headed to Munich and Paris. Arriving in Paris in 1908, he enrolled in the Free Academy Ranson. Here he continued his graphic work that he began in his home country and collaborated with publications like "Le Témoin" and "Le Rire". He now immersed himself in French artist society, befriended Derain and Brâncuși, and entered the artistic circle at Bateau-Lavoir, at the center of which was Picasso. He practiced his pen in the genre of satire, and through his drawings, became known throughout Europe. In 1921 he returned to Paris with his wife and in 1924 participated in numerous collective exhibitions such as the "Salon des Tuileries" or "Salon d’Automne". In 1925, he opened his first personal exhibition in France, at the Devambez gallery, where he showcased the landscapes of Dobrogea to the French public. He continued to exhibit at Parisian salons in the following years, and in 1931 opened personal exhibitions in Antwerp and Brussels. The year 1934 coincided with his last year living abroad. From this previously mentioned period came a rich series of landscapes, in which Iser captured the beauty of France, the parks and gardens in the middle of cities, the grand sculptures and impressive palaces. The landscape now became a distinct genre in the artist's work, depicting wide views of a fascinating setting. The dominance of this cycle remains nature, with its fruitful vegetation and clear skies. The artist depicts the specificity of the place from which he paints in the lines of the drawing and in the colored strokes. He incorporates light into color and conveys the beauty of summer days through vigorous contrasts. Hues of green prevail in various declinations, tropical landscapes and the gardens of Paris. The artist is evidently interested in portraying palm trees with their brown trunks, the grown grass or the intensely blue sky, characteristic of the solar atmosphere.
