During high school, Octavian Angheluță will send a whole bunch of works to the competition organized in Bucharest by the Artistic Youth Association, for which he will be awarded. Initially, he will attend the courses of the School of Fine Arts and those of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy, but he will give up the latter. He will study drawing with Artachino, and painting with G.D. Mirea and Camil Ressu. As a student, he will be encouraged by artists such as Petrașcu, Tonitza or Pallady. He will then start to consistently participate in the Official Salons, where his artistic merits will be recognized through awards. After graduation, his life begins to pick up a brisk rhythm: he marries the sculptor Elena Angheluță; organizes his first personal exhibition in 1931, in Câmpina; he will teach drawing and calligraphy at the Monahal Seminary in Cernica, where he will form a close friendship with Ion Țuculescu; he will have tangents with the avant-garde movement, collaborating with magazines such as "Urmuz" or "Contimporanul" and will also hold, for a period, the position of director of the State Pinacotheca. It gives the human figure a central place in his work and notes, most often in oil or pastel, the features of personalities such as Jean. Al. Steriade, Gh. Oprescu, Corneliu Baba or Lucian Grigorescu. It incorporates components of its own personality, which it identifies and in the model in front of the canvas, and transcribes them subtly in its works. His portraits of children remind of the technique and themes addressed by Velasquez. As a continuator of Mirea, Ressu or Tonitza in his searches in playful portraiture, he will often capture the faces of his own children - Getuța and Anton. Captures moments of complete spontaneity and creates portraits in the most unexpected moments. Sometimes, to arouse the interest of his little models, he claimed to be a relative of Santa Claus, proof being his prominent beard.
