Often referred to as the "painter of fog clouds", Constantin Isachie Popescu often expressed endless aquatic expanses, sunk in morning fog, with rays of sun reflecting on the water's surface and the smoking chimneys of the boats arriving in the port. Guided by his mother, who wanted him to be a priest, he will approach Greek Catholicism and various prominent religious personalities, even being ordained. Initially, he began a career in law, but he left the Vlașca bar and dedicated himself to painting. This career change resulted in the adoption of the pseudonym "Isachie". He studied in Bucharest under the guidance of G.D. Mirea, and later studied in Italy and France. He exhibited early on at the "Salon des Artistes Français" and he was rewarded with praise in the Bucharest press. He was highly appreciated during the interwar period - even King Carol II purchased ten of his works after an exhibition. However, after the change of regime, the artist's visibility diminished considerably, being almost completely excluded from local exhibitions. The writer and priest Gala Galaction became the artist's patron and undertook numerous trips with him and his wife, Letitia (formerly Mirea). They traveled various routes together. They went on cruises together (on the ship "Dacia") and visited Serai-Burnu, the Golden Horn, Haifa or Mangalia. In the work of Constantin Isachie Popescu, we often find a dialogue of nature and a conglomeration of intense clashes of clouds with water. Whether transcribing panoramas of the Thames or the Nice, or capturing the famous London Bridge, the artist masterfully records in his journal all the places he visited.
