Work printed in Ghent by Augustin Graet at Anje in 1719. Folio format with 32 pages, watermarked paper, with 40 full-page lines, printed in red and black ink, numerous typographic elements, initials, end vignettes, title page decorated with the Imperial coat of arms of Austria, the engraving at the beginning of the book represents a votive painting dedicated to Emperor Charles VI, made by John B. van Volxsom and engraved by M. Beylbrouck. The bibliophilic value of the book is enhanced by an ex-libris label, probably belonging to the first owner of the book in the 18th century (M. le Bon G. de Joigny). Editor Augustin Graet's text provides a meticulous day-by-day account of the festivities, including the cavalcade's departure from Brussels on October 16 and its arrival at the Abbey of Mont Blandin in Ghent, the musical program of the Mass at St. Bavo, and especially the opulent splendour of the opening on the afternoon of the 18th at the Marché du Vendredi (Vrijdagmarkt, Ghent's largest public market), for which an enormous stage had been specially designed by architect Jacob Colin. The inaugural engraving - almost a full meter wide - is signed by Colin, C. Eykens and engraver J.B. Berterham, who also executed the engraving of the interior of the Cathedral. A third plaque depicts a rather gruesome triumphal arch celebrating the expansion of the Austrian Empire with pikes bearing the severed heads of Turkish generals. Although Charles VI joined as Count of Flanders in 1713, the protracted transfer of the province from the Spanish Habsburgs to the Austrian Habsburgs delayed the festivities until 1717, at which point no expense was spared to celebrate the inauguration. Graet's Book of Celebration even proclaimed Charles "Roy des Espanges", although that title had already been won in the War of the Spanish Succession by Philip V.
