From optical theories to the practice of neo-impressionism, from easel painting to the composition studied and completed in the art studio, Nicolae Dărăscu made proof of his extraordinary skills and superior understanding of the aesthetic degrees of painting, which are now translated into works of art reminding of one of the greatest local painters. Nicolae Dărăscu's interiors introduce us to a figurative category defined not only by the challenge of the composition typology, but, through their specificity, and intimacy of Dărăscu's soul. If most paintings of the cycle are dedicated to the interiors of Turkish cafes, painted in Dobrogea during the interwar period, in the first period of creation, after the revelation of French post-impressionism, which he would emulate in 1908-1914, Dărăscu would remain in the chromatic experiments universe for a while. The colour palette was then correlated with a brushstroke typical of a painter in love with colour and light, which is evident in this painting, in this eloquent shade and brushstroke play.
