The icon illustrates Jesus Christ giving benediction, seated on the throne. He is holding the Gospel in his left hand, and giving benediction with his right hand. The drawing made in pen, the dominant red and white colour scheme, the mode in which the character’s physiognomy was made, with a short, small neck, and rounded face, are the arguments in favour of such assigning. The iconographic theme depicted against a pink and white background is very well highlighted, being specific for Matei Tâmforea. (M.B.)

So far, three icons having this iconographic themes have been known publicly, one in the Romanian Academy’s heritage, and two in the collection of Musat family.
