The composition is divided in two registers: in the upper part, Elijah is lifted up to heaven in a chariot drawn by two winged horses held by two angels; a third angel comes flying with a book in his hands; in the lower part, on the left, Elijah is fed in the cave by the raven, in the middle Elijah counsels Elisha, and on the right Elisha catches the scabbard thrown by Elijah.
