The letter was published by newspaper "Dreptatea Literară" ("Literary Justice") on May 4, 1991. Here is what Silviu Dragomir wrote in the article: "The epistle, very interesting for elucidating aspects of the public life of the time, sins by omitting the addressee as well as the date it was written. From the context it would appear that the date can be sought between the years 1865-1880 (when Iosif Vulcan's magazine "Familia" ("Family") was printed in Pest) and that the sender must be sought among the collaborators in Bucharest of "Telegraful român" ("Romanian Telegraph") (which could be Florian Aron, but also one of the writers: V. Alecsandri, Al. Odobescu, M. Eminescu, I. Slavici or G. Coșbuc). We leave it to literary historians to make the necessary analyses and to set this document in the context in which it was written."
