Aglae Eminescu (1852-1900) was the elder sister of the poet Mihai Eminescu, she was noted for her musical talent and her ability to play the piano, and she wanted to become an actress. Along with her brother, she knew the intellectual elite of Botoșani and Chernivtsi However, she married at a young age, in 1871, to Ioan Drogli, a teacher at the school for teachers in Suceava. With him, Aglae had two children, John and George. When her husband Drogli died in 1887, Aglae was left alone with two children she could not support, so it is rumoured that she married an Austrian captain named Heinrich Gareiss von Döllizsturm out of interest, in 1890. Her son George fell ill and ended up living in a sanatorium. A helpless witness to her son's tragedy, she ends up being struck down herself by an autoimmune disease. The poet's elder sister died in 1900 in Chernivtsi in the house where she lived with her last husband. Holograph letter written by Aglae Eminescu addressed to Messrs Șaraga, thanking them for the first two issues of their collection and for the magazine "Rândunica". Aglae also thanked the two for agreeing to publish the prose of her brother, who was established as a poet when he died. She was convinced that the prose volume would be more sought after than the poetry. She also felt it necessary to thank Professor A. D. Xenopol who "offered to look after the editing of the poems" and whom she did not know personally, but whom she knew had been a close friend of her brother. The letter was to have a sequel, "with future mail", to which she was to add the money for a year's subscription to the magazine "Rândunica". The letter is sent from Chernivtsi, dated 1893 and signed with Aglae's name from her second marriage, in 1890, to Austrian Captain Heinrich Gareiss von Döllizsturm. Thus, the letter is signed A. Gareiss von Döllizsturm.
