This type of ducat was exclusively minted at the Kremnica mint between 1658 and 1704, each year circulating a number of pieces ranging from 60,000 to 110,000. The ducat issued in 1681 on behalf of Leopold I represents a piece of exceptional historical and numismatic importance, exceeding its mere monetary function and constituting a true document of the era. Through the context of its issuance, the coin reflects the political, economic, and cultural realities of the Kingdom of Hungary at the end of the seventeenth century, a period marked by profound transformations generated by confrontations with the Ottoman Empire and the consolidation of Habsburg authority in the region.
