Suzana Gâdea was an engineer with an academic career, who became a member of the Romanian Communist Party in 1962. Between 1976 and 1979, she was Minister of Education and Instruction, and in the period 1979-1989, President of the Council of Socialist Culture and Education (ranking as a minister). She also held the position of President of the National Women's Council. Between 1979 and 1989 she was a member of the Executive Political Council of the Romanian Communist Party.
