The sun is associated with a series of symbolic valences, including axial dynamics, the correspondence of Sun-Spirit-Fire, warmth and truth, purification, bravery, and the guide of the human heart. In a wider meaning, the Sun is identified with the Masculine, with the active principle, therefore being the symbol of Origin, of the Beginning, of the reason that illuminates shadows and spirits. On the other hand, te moon symbolises the Feminine, the obscure, intuition, the changing nature of forms. Its character is feminine, thus embodying the maternal care that manifests itself in its ascending or descending course, adjusting the pulsations of nature. But it also signifies the deprivation of man, who has lost his primordial dignity. It also represents the image of the mediator between celestial forces, as it reflects the sunlight and is the lady of the Waters. In the Masonic sense, the Sun and the Moon represent the alternation and the balance between day and night, between black and white, between activity and rest, the dialectic of opposites.
