Opis

Florin Maxa graduated from the "Ioan Andreescu" Institute of Plastic Arts in Cluj, under the guidance of Maestro Aurel Ciupe. Professionally, Maxa divided himself between the plastic artist and the teacher vocations. He played an active part in the generation of artists of the 1970s, famous for the experimental abilities and for its contribution to the construction of the new national avant-garde. Described by his nearest people in his life as a rational person, and possessing a high cognitive capacity, the artist has published two theory books throughout time. In his work, we can identify the characteristics of optical constructivism: the geometry and the technical illustration of shapes, or the harmonious organisation of the compositional space. The artist's painting evokes a world of antagonistically positioned shapes, and his subjects suggest dichotomies between formal-informal or structure-matter. The tumult of movement and the contradiction of colours are accentuated by the almost mathematical rationality of plastic language. The personification of geometric forms, placed instinctively in various contexts which acquire humanised values, becomes a trademark of the artist's personal style. Florin Maxa used his creation as an act of reflection and moulding of the external environment, and he also encoded symbols with the ability of an avant-garde artist.
