One of the most prominent students of Camil Ressu, without a graduation diploma from the Nicolae Grigorescu Institute (he was marginalized by officials being considered a formalist), Ion Alin Gheorghiu is undoubtedly one of the most representative artists of the last 50 years. With a creation that captivates almost the entire duration of the second half of the 20th century, but also with an art defined by the continuous conscientiousness of renewal, the appearance of a Gheorghiu canvas easily provokes specific experiences. Especially since the work in question reminds us of stages and periods long past, but so pulsating and alive even in the contemporaneity that no longer has the great painter by its side. This monumental nude, painted on such a generous surface, lives and vibrates plastically through an exceptional pictorial complex in which synthesis becomes the key in which the composition resonates. Not only is the design ascetic, but also the adjacent sources of visual, shape and color are thus integrated into a kind of pagan procession, in which the painting of the female nude tends towards ancient sacrosanct notes. The choice of tones also enters this filtering process, and the result is translated, subsequently, by the typical painting - the surface is painted in different brush strokes, and the color laid in varied saturations.
