Opis

This piece, created during the vibrant period of the Baroque era, made of gilded silver and decorated with pearls, precious and semi-precious stones, was crafted in Siebenbürgen, the area of present-day Transylvania, and dates back to the early 18th century. The technique and design of the jewelry conform to the object-esthetic typology recognized as part of the heritage left by the Saxon culture. The brooch consists of two elements connected by a silver pin. The upper part is handcrafted, decorated with emeralds, rubies, and various semi-precious stones set and faceted in the Baroque style. A stylized floral shape, decorated with white and blue enamel, was applied to this main part, supported by a central setting housing an aquamarine. The lower part is built on a manually worked silver framework, decorated with settings containing precious stones, semi-precious stones, and pearls; however, the most notable element is the colorful and monochrome enamel decoration. Another characteristic that situates the piece within the aforementioned style and period is the rich enamel ornamentation found on the reverse side of the object.
