The dictation notebook contains at the beginning a few thoughts on art written in black ink, as well as numerous sketches in pencil and charcoal. There are also lists of daily expenses and the outline of a letter. Several pages are detached from the spine and the covers show obvious signs of age. The notebook contains 8 pages of notes and 54 pages of sketches.
