Obverse: + IO BOGDAN VOEVODA GOS; In a pearled circle is the coat of arms of Moldova: an ox head with a star of five rays between its horns, with the odd ray pointing upwards, flanked on the heraldic left by a waning moon and on the right by a six-petaled rose. Reverse: + PODAR ZEMLI MOLDAVSCOI, with three ligatures: AR, AV, and OI; The coat of arms of the Musat family (?) in an inner linear circle: a shield containing a patriarchal cross formed of two Maltese crosses; outer linear circle. Bogdan III, also known as Bogdan the Blind, was the ruler of Moldova between 1504 and 1517, the son of Stephen the Great. Although he did not equal his father's glory, his reign is historically significant for maintaining internal stability and skillfully managing foreign relations in an increasingly difficult regional context. Domestically, Bogdan managed to maintain the continuity of the administration and the institutions strengthened by Stephen the Great, contributing to Moldova's stability during a transition period. Although he was not a great warrior, he was a skilled diplomat. Externally, he continued the policy of balance between Poland, Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire. In 1511, he was forced to accept the payment of tribute to the Ottomans, marking the beginning of Moldova's clearer dependence on the Ottoman Empire, but at the same time managing to avoid major military interventions and maintain internal autonomy.
