The Military Order of War “Mihai Viteazul” is Romania’s highest military war distinction, established by King Ferdinand through the High Decree no. 2968 from September 26, 1916 and ratified through the High Decree no. 3249 from December 21 the same year. The order was destined to reward “the exceptional acts of war of the officers who distinguished themselves in front of the enemy”. According to the article 1, it was organized in three classes III, II and I - with the explicit clarification that “no one can attain a superior class if he is not decorated with the class III”.
