He asserts his interest in form and colour since childhood. A real turning point in the artist's life is watching a film on television that portrays Van Gogh's personality. After viewing it, he decides to fully commit to art. He attends the courses of the Baia Mare Art High School and establishes his initial contacts with the town’s Painter Colony. He decides to dedicate more of his time to sculpture, his works using this technique being considered better than the paintings created. He moves to Bucharest. The studio where he works is quite close to the Bellu cemetery, where he often spends time exploring the statuettes and sculptures. One of the pursuits translated over time into his creation were his native parts, or the "Lăpuș area". Mircea Roman, or "the sculptor from Lăpuş" immortalizes the archetypal peasant from his hometown as a statue. The artist's sculptures bring together patience and kindness, outlining humanity in all its forms.
