The inscription at the base of the work, representing fragments from the Hippocratic Oath, translates as follows: "I will lead my life and practice my craft with innocence and cleanliness. Whatever I would see or hear while practicing my profession, or even outside of it, I will not speak of what there is no need to reveal, considering that, in such circumstances, keeping a secret is a duty."
