The colonists from Miletus, upon arriving on the west Pontic shores, found indigenous Thracian populations. The initiation of exchanges with these populations took the form of barter at first and as trade relations intensified, it was necessary to find exchange elements. Thus, in the treasuries found at Enisala and Jurilovca, functional arrowheads and many arrowheads used only for exchange were found. In the northern region of Dobrogea, pre-coins in the shape of dolphins were also common. The most handy material was bronze, with electrum variants being very little known.
