Opis

Kingly Gates - an essential piece of the Orthodox iconostasis; it is the door used by the priest to enter and exit during the liturgical worship. Almost without exception, the Annunciation scene is depicted on the two door leaves, where the Archangel Michael is always present on the left, and Virgin Mary, either sitting, or standing, is given the news that she is given God’s grace, and Mary answers: "Here am I, the servant of the Lord". Just as the young woman received naturally and without any questions or hesitations the news that she would become the mother of God, in the same way, the presence of this scene on the doors of every church shows us that entry to God’s Kingdom is prepared for everyone who is faithful, without taking age, stature, rank, or ethnicity into account. Heaven is prepared for all of us, and this is the news we are given in every Holy Liturgy, which takes place behind these Kingly Gates, before which we, the faithful, stand. At the foot of the two, the painter depicted two cherubs, as a clear guarantee that the world which we are talking about, and where the ones painted are already found, no longer belongs to this universe, but to the one that is to come, in future times.
