On the gold background of the icon, Saint Nicholas is depicted below the middle, dressed in a red chasuble edged with a gold galloon and pearls. Above, he wears a black omophorion embroidered with brownish-red crosses, edged with gold and pearls. He does not wear a mitre. With his right hand, he gives a blessing, and with his left hand, he holds the closed Gospel close to his chest, its clasp decorated with pearls. His face is rendered according to the traditional typology: old, with short white hair and beard, modeled with fine strands. The facial features and hands are executed in light shades of ochre. The halo around his head is outlined by the gold background of the icon with a row of dots made in stucco. The same decoration is used for the halo and the raised frame of the icon.
